V56K PCI can work on PCI-E, but only with special adaptor. It is possible to integrate another bridge directly on PCB, but in this case, as i know, there will be two bridges and performance will be not so perfect (but theoretically it can be better then regular PCI/PCI66).
Oh cool, didn't know that PCI-to-PCI-E adapter already exists

Yesterday night i tried to launch P.O.D in Glide mode. It is very good example of such old software. To run the game properly you should use 3 patches and use single GPU mode for Voodoo 5 6000. On any drivers - everything is same. But at the end - perfect image quality with ideal FPS (LOD -2, VSYNC + Tripple buffering), just no AA. If you trying to run the game with AA of in maximum performance mode - cars textures are corrupted. I think it is possible to run almost all games, but in some cases, you're right, you need Voodoo3,2,1....
Yeah, Pandemonium particularly. There's a funny story there. Some years I got another V5 5500 from e-bay in case the current one collapse (it's 21 year old now) but in the package I found Voodoo 1 too along V5, for some reason. So I was thinking, can I use it for anything? And then I remembered injustice that I couldn't run Pandemonium 1 in Glide long time ago when I had Voodoo2 (didn't know back then that there was actually patch for V2 on internet). Thus I decided to fix this injustice and installed V1 on my retro machine and see the game in Glide. But... on installation screen, Glide option was STILL grayed out. I was like WTF!? What card or Glide this game actually wants!!? It worked in the end, since you can run special Glide *.exe directly in the game dir. And... I was somewhat disappointed in what I saw... basically all the Glide did was to remove the interlace, not even bilinear filtering on the textures, bah.

Razer64 driver and some others as i remember allows you to enable "Bump mapping" in Glide.
Hmm... don't remember any game that supported this special DOT3 bump mapping in Glide... is there one?

I will check it on Drakan. In software mode you can emulate everything, but i'm not sure about performance even on 4 GHz Phenom II CPU. The main problem in Windows 9x is a lack of multi-CPU support. Win 9x's task manager is not effective, that is the main root of problem. In multi-core OS, such as Windows XP, it is possible to make it work much better, but it is necessary to modify drivers anyway.
And T&L emulation is different. It is needed only to solve compatibility issues, but in the end in case of 3dfx cards it is anyway is a CPU work.
Yeah I assume that in software mode anything is possible and I was thinking more about Ryzen, but I wouldn't be surprised that Phenom II could do it as well. I think there was a few more games but I happen to know only Drakan and Giants to support this special bump mappaing and both of those are D3D only games. Also there was one test for it in 3D Mark 2000 that was always skipped on V5. I remember Giants being the one that used this bump mapping the most. So if someone manage to activate bump mapping in that game (or 3D Mark 2000) on V5, I guess it will work anywhere else. In Drakan, there's a check box in config for visuals that is grayed out on V5 and if bump mapping is working, it is visible on the dragon's scales only.

V56K with fast CPU support can handle 1600x1200 with 4xAA in some cases. Without AA at 1600x1200 a lot of games are flying. If you want i can check.
Hmm, this is interesting. On my V5 5500 I never found a single game that survived 1024x768 with x4 AA. The closest one that I found was Battlezone (the Red Brigade campaign!), thinking it to be the first game that I could actually play with those settings, but nope, as soon as the smoke appeared on the screen, fps crashed completely. Now... V5 6000 can't be more than twice faster than V5 5500... is it possible that there is a game that can survive 4xAA in 1600x1200 resolution on V5 6000?!
